Work is well underway on Weedon Road in Northampton to transform a rundown former Homebase building into two fresh new retail units. The existing building will be partly demolished and stripped out.
The structure of the building is to be modified to include a rear loading bay with ramp, whilst the front elevation incorporates two new signage towers and canopy with new windows and doors.
The building, which will be separated into two units for large retailers Aldi and B&M Bargains, will be accessed via a new entrance road which will be formed off the main Weedon Road to the front of the units. Forming of the new entrance to the site will involve extensive 278 roadworks which will require a deal of planning and traffic management.
Internally the unit will be revitalised and brought up to an attractive shell specification. By installing a new party wall to subdivide the units and installing additional drainage and a recessed slab for chilled storage, fit out of the units can commence with the majority of disruptive works already completed.
Externally there will be new lighting, paving and landscaping, whilst the whole carpark will be resurfaced following the new layout modifications.
The works should provide the local community with attractive retail amenities for years to come.
