The works were split between defined areas on the two main buildings known as Edison House and Chamberlain House along with those required within the internal courtyard known as Innovation Court.
Works included the strip out of existing internal finishes, enabling works to reinforce the existing structure in preparation for revised floor layouts and the full refurbishment of office accommodation to provide a high-quality working environment within a building steeped in history.
The design and installation of Mechanical & Electrical services, along with the replacement of the personnel lift, required attention to detail to ensure that the space was brought up to the current building regulations and fire separation criteria, whilst incorporating the high quality details and features expected of prime city centre office space.
The design team put a great deal of thought into the decorative finishes and furnishings to ensure that the character of the buildings was not lost or forgotten.
Externally, sympathetic repairs and redecoration to front elevation were undertaken whilst the Courtyard and entranceway to Innovation House were transformed with soft and hard landscaping, new paving and a complimentary lighting scheme creating a welcome contrast within the busy city location.
