Last month we completed the construction of 3 new industrial buildings, split into 4 speculative units, on Stone Business Park. With a total floor area of 86,000ft² (8,000m²), each unit has been built to a high specification with integrated office accommodation.
Located on Opal Way and in close proximity to the M6, the curved roof buildings were constructed using steel frame with composite cladding to walls and roof set alongside curtain walling and windows for the office accommodation.
The interior of the buildings have been designed to deliver quality finishes whilst allowing flexibility for the building to be adapted for a variety of incoming business operations. Tiled entrance lobbies lead up to open plan first floor mezzanine offices with high finish amenity facilities.
Constructed to a rating of BREEAM Very Good, the overall selection of materials and features were key to ensure the environmental impact of the buildings is kept to a minimum throughout their lifetime. Features such as leak detection and a diverse soft landscaping plan not only help the environment but lead to an efficient, attractive and welcoming building.
The project provided a number of challenges, from a very wet February, whilst working in the ground, to adapting working practices to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Throughout the project we were assisted by a quality supply chain, a helpful design team and a positive client team.
