Work has commenced at Colworth Science Park in Bedfordshire to construct a new operations building to be occupied by Unilever, a multinational consumer goods company.
With a floor area of circa 26,000ft² (2500m²), the steel framed, and cladded building will include open plan offices with meeting rooms on the first floor, a warehouse, a workshop area and associated amenities.
Colworth Park is an established location for scientific excellence and the campus hosts a range of commercial research and development organisations. The Park is one of Unilever’s two main Research & Development centres in the UK and the new building will be an addition to those already on site and used to supplement their ongoing projects.
Constructed to a ‘BREEAM Very Good’ standard, this modern build will be made up of rainscreen panels, built up cladding and glazed curtain walling to the frontage. Internally, the project includes a CAT B fit out for Unilever, with an extensive and varied M&E installation.
External works have been designed to make the best use of the area with the least impact to the current landscaping and will include the construction of a service yard area, car parking bays, service connections and landscaping works.
